I bought my first car, a 1968 bug in 1983 when I did not even have a driver's license :-) The car is still with me to this very day. And so it was under my Dad's name with everyone in the family using it except me.  I needed to get my license quickly and as the days drew nearer to the test date, all that followed was an anticlimax - I failed my driving test! I managed it on my 2nd attempt in Nov 1983, 6 months from the day I bought the car at S$7,700. Soon after, I wasted no time in transfering the ownership to my name.
